If you want to continue to use AOL along with your account here (TCP/IP ), you can, and at a 50% discount from AOL because you are using your own access through US.  Here are the instructions you will need to set it up on a Macintosh.

Double-click the Macintosh Hard Drive icon.

Look for the folder called America Online and double-click to open the folder.

Inside the folder, double-click the America Online icon to open the program.

In the America Online Setup and Sign on window. Click the Setup button.

You will then see the Location window.

On the top left hand corner of the window, you will see a setting called First Profile. Directly below that there is a setting that says Connect Method. It is currently set at AOLNet. To the right you will see an arrow facing downward. Click and hold the arrow and select the setting TCP. Repeat this step for the setting Second Profile.

Click the Save button.

Back at the Setup and Sign on menu, at the Select Location box, click the downward arrow and choose TCP (for LAN or ISP).

Under the File menu choose Quit to quit AOL.

 You will now sign on to US the way you usually do.

If you use the Internet Dialer, find it and double-click. Click Connect.

If you use Config FreePPP, find it and double-click. Click Connect.

When the dialer has connected, open your hard drive.

Double-click the America Online folder and then the America Online icon.

You will see the Setup and Sign On screen. Enter screen name and password.

Click Sign On.

If you no longer want to use America Online directly, you can go to AOL Keyword Billing and choose the $9.95 Bring Your Own Access (BYOA) option.

IMPORTANT: Once you select the BYOA billing plan,  AOL may charge you HOURLY if you connect the old way, once BYOA has taken effect. The change to BYOA is NOT instant but begins at your next billing period. Call the AOL help line after selecting the BYOA plan and let them clarify EXACTLY when you can start to use it without penalty.
