YOUR BROWSER NEEDS PERIODIC MAINTENANCE TOO......

 

CLEARING YOUR BROWSER'S CACHE  ( TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES )
and other recommended settings.

Your Browser caches webpage files on your Hard Drive in order to help you move about the Internet faster. If your browser comes accross pages that haven't changed since your last visit to a site, it will load the cached pages from the hard drive cache instead of the Internet, thereby speeding things up quite a bit.  BUT...... The cache will get full after a while and then it will tend to actually SLOW you down.. Soooo here's how to clean things up...............................

MS Internet Explorer 3.x - go to "View" then "Options" then select the "Advanced Tab". In the middle of the window in the area marked "Temporary Internet Files" Click the "settings" Button. Then click the button marked "Empty Folder" This may take a few minutes. Make sure that before you leave this window that the "Slider" marked"Amount of disk space to use" is set to around 20%. Check back once or twice per month for continued maintenance, more if you spend a lot of time surfing new websites.

MS Internet Explorer 4.x Go to "View" then "Internet Options" then at the area marked "Temporary Internet Files" click the "Delete Files" button. This may take a few minutes. Click the "settings" Button. Make sure that before you leave this window that the "Slider" marked"Amount of disk space to use" is set to around 20%. Check back here to clear the cache often for your browsers best performance.

Netscape Navigator 4.x - Go to "Edit" then "Preferences" then "Advanced" then "Cache". Click the button marked "Clear Disk Cache". Check back often for your browsers best performance.

NOTE: All windows programs have " HELP"  in the drop down menus. VERY handy. Always refer to these help features. They are like a built in manual that explains all the features of each program.
