90% of the time this procedure will cure a failure to connect problem. - Cold Boot Your Machine (Shut down normally, then turn power OFF for 30 seconds) Turn power ON and wait for windows to load,THEN, when you log-in to the system, re-type in your user name and password ( Be sure the Caps Lock key is off )

Unfortunately, Bill Didn't check with us during the design of Windows 95. If he did we would have recommended fixing some of these anomaly's before releasing the Win95 Operating system. I have to admit we are really tired of Beta testing Microsoft software without being paid. And you should be too..........

Problem...Modem dials but it says your password is invalid.when trying to connect......

Sometimes a space or other character finds it's way into your password box *************
and since it is encrypted, only  *'s  are visible. A slip of a finger can insert a space or character there and you will NOT notice it.

Solution: Re-type in your password making sure your Caps/Lock key is set to lower case.

Problem..Modem does not dial (you can't hear a dial sound.

Solution..Make sure your extension phone in not off the hook. You can also temporarily plug an extension phone into the "phone" connection of your modem and check to see if there is a dial tone. If there is a dial tone you may have to shutdown your computer to "initialize your modem"..This means a cold boot (Shut down normally and the switch off the power for 10-15 seconds)

Problem ..Modem window reports that the line is busy or unavailable after dialing...

Solution..Check the phone number you are showing in the dialer window and be sure it is correct. We have a lot of excess capacity and the chances of getting a busy signal are very very remote.

A failed 1st attempt to log into the network is rare but can happen. This may be caused by a failure of your modem to "Handshake" properly. This is more common with users that have no-name or cheap modems or modems using an improper or outdated driver. This can also be caused by your phone line. Phone line "quality" can change from time to time depending on weather conditions, heat, cold etc. A second attempt should go smoothly. If you cannot log into the system after several attempts, there may be other reasons.

1. We do perform regular maintenance from time to time and during those short periods logging in may be disabled. These periods are usually posted in advance on our system status page and generally last for only a few minutes.

2. We may have disabled your account because of a suspected security problem. (We try to contact you first). We are very careful to watch out for un-authorized use of your account for your protection.

3. The phone company is NOT perfect and their equipment's maintenance or failure   may be the cause. Call us or check system status for up to the minute information.

4. New software that you downloaded may have changed some of your system settings. This is most common with users that have recently installed programs designed to use the Internet or with new browsers and sometimes browser plug-in.

ALWAYS LOOK FOR THE SIMPLE THINGS FIRST. RE-TYPE YOUR USER NAME AND PASSWORD IN SMALL LETTERS (LOWERCASE) FIRST. THIS IS THE #1 MOST COMMON REASON THAT PEOPLE CAN'T CONNECT.

Call customer support  if you can't resolve a problem. We can't help you if you don't call.
