The Rose Valentine's day can be any day if you're a carver. I got the pattern from one of Ivan Whillock's books and was lovingly badgered into carving it by my wife. I carved it out of Mesquite and finished it with polyurathane. It now hangs in her classroom. Not bad for the first relief carving I've ever done.
