One of the really neat things about being a carver
is that you get to make gifts that are one-of-a-kind and highly appriciated. I carved this
as a wedding gift for my wife, and we used it in the ceremony.
It was also entered into competition in the 1999 Rio Grande Valley Woodcarvers Show
and won a blue ribbon in the "stylized" catagory, and won 3rd place in the first ever online
woodcarving competition,
Flexcut Carving Tools. Sadly, they aren't holding those competition
anymore.
The base itself it made of Screwbean Mesquite, and the doves are of Sugar Pine. It's finished
with tung oil.
